Development of a device for spectrometry of mixed gamma-neutron fields has been completed
The Garnet company has completed the development of a digital spectrometer designed for simultaneous measurement of the energy distribution of fast neutron flux density (spectra) and gamma quanta in the mixed radiation fields of industrial reactors, medical and research accelerators of elementary particles, medical generators and isotopic neutron sources. The device allows real-time simultaneous measurement of the energy spectrum of gamma and neutron radiation by one or more detecting elements.
The device is built on the base of fast CAEN DT5730 digitizer, which has 8 input channels with a 500 MHz sampling rate and 14 bits resolution. The detector is based on HAMAMATSU R6094 PMT with stilbene cylindrical organic scintillation crystal (25×25 mm size) produced by Scionx company.
The detector is equipped with a magnetic shield. The device includes a high voltage source for photomultipliers (PMT) controlled via a USB interface. The software allows you to visualize the amplitude and time spectrums of particles, separated by type of particles.
The detection energy range for neutrons is from 100 keV to 12 MeV and for gamma quanta from 100 keV to 6.0 MeV (depending on the size of the scintillation crystal).
Option for 8-channels system to create an image of the spatial distribution of the mixed fields is avaliable.
